Thirty-One Gifts

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” – Romans 8:14-16 (emphasis mine)

“Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” – James 1:27

Clearly adoption and caring for the orphan are on the heart of God – and He has graciously shown His heart to me in this area.  Not all families are called to adopt, however, I do believe that all Christian families do have a responsibility to seek God in this area and to support adoptions or care for orphans in some way.  We are all called to do something.

My heart has been burdened recently with what I could possibly do.  At this time God is not calling us to adopt.  I would love more than anything to jump on a plane and rescue a child like Bridget, who is facing a mental institution – a death sentence for many children in her part of the world.  But that is not where God has called me to be; His timing is perfect and I may not understand it, but I am called to obey.

I am not being called to adopt, but I am being called to advocate for the orphan and to support families who are adopting.  Thirty-One Gifts is my way of doing that.  I don’t have many skills and I can’t do crafts… so instead I have partnered with an established company that has beautiful and useful products that I can sell confidently.  Thirty-One Gifts has purses, bags, totes and plenty of other cute storage containers and accessories that are perfect for gifts or your own home.

As I begin adding benefits and fundraisers I will list them here.  You can click on the fundraiser you would like to support and 20% of your purchase will go to that child or family.  Please check back soon for more fundraisers!
